Just 5 years ago there were only a few wallets. So a hardcoded login was good enough. Now there are dozens if not hundreds of wallets and making it easy to connect them all requires a new approach.
Without a standardized way to connect wallets to dapps, it will be next to impossible to get mass adoption.
If you work for a dapp or a wallet, implement EIP-6963 on your side. It's really easy.
If you have a favorite dapp that is yet to implement this, please ask them. This will show that you care about this and will help them prioritize this work.
Finally, mint the NFT. Again, this will show that it's a major issue. And make history: you'll have this NFT as a proof that you helped to tackle the connectivity problem in Web3.
EIP-6963 is the first major initiative to tackle the connectivity problem in Web3. Built by developers from leading wallets, libraries, and dapps, it's a collaborative project in the true spirit of Web3. Nobody is trying to corner the market. Instead, we are all working to make this space more open to everyone.
Please take a look at this tutorial and docs that show how EIP-6963 works. If you'll still have questions, please post a question in the Unblock Crypto channel on Farcaster and somebody will help you.
You can try to connect your wallet. If the dapp does not automatically recognize your wallet(s) and show them, chances are that the dapp does not yet support this EIP.
